Call to Order: 7:04pm Mike Arendes called the meeting to order.
Law Enforcement Report – Deputy Jason Hopper gave a crime prevention report.
Lloyd Matthews Service Recognition:
Mike Arendes shared Lloyd’s background and involvement in our community, and thanked him for all of the many volunteer positions he has held in The Woodlands. Lloyd has been instrumental in many programs that are ongoing in our community and his service has been extensive. A scholarship in Lloyd’s name has been established at the Montgomery County Women’s Center.
Lloyd spoke briefly to encourage the young people to get involved in the community.
ISVA Scholarship Presentation:
Mike Arendes presented scholarships to six high school Seniors from Indian Springs.
Secretary’s Report: Bev Wallery – Minutes from March are on the website. Erica Pratt motioned to approve the minutes; Richard Stromatt seconded. All approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Ken Schumann provided an updated Treasurer’s report and asked for approval. Richard Stromatt seconded. All approved.
Woodlands Township Report: John Osborne. John provided the summary from The Township BOD meeting and a list of upcoming activities and dates. June 11th, 1-2:30 will be an Open House at Fire House #8 on Gosling Rd. The Indian Springs 12th Annual Taste of the Village will be on October 15th. John reminded everyone that the Township is again offering Rape Aggression Defense System (RADS) classes.
Parks & Recreation Advisory Council: Michael Saucier. Pool passes are now available. It’s time to sign up for summer camps. There is a new app for phones called TheWoodlands311. One of the main buttons on the app is Service Request so when you are out in the community and see an issue of concern, you can pull up the app and make a request for service.
Magazine Article: Kelly Sharer will put an article in the magazine announcing this year’s scholarship recipients as well as a note about Lloyd Matthew’s retirement honor.
RDRC – Ken Schumann and Russ Heinen. There was no quorum at the meeting.
Green Up: The Township’s annual Green Up event was held on Saturday, April 9th. Thank you to all who volunteered. The Village is allocated money from the Township for our volunteer efforts. This money is then used for our annual scholarships, donations to the local schools and other community needs.
Flea Market: The Township’s semi-annual Flea Market was held on Saturday, April 9th. Thank you to all who volunteered. The Village is allocated money from the Township for our volunteer efforts. This money is then used for our annual scholarships, donations to the local schools and other community needs.
Taste of the Village: Mike applied for the grant with HEB’s Community Outreach Branch and it has been approved. Regency will sponsor the event as well as HEB.
Village Association Service Agreement: This is a contract between the Village and the Township. The money received from the Township is restricted to specific uses.
New Board Member – Tom Brown, a long-term resident of Indian Springs, was welcomed to the meeting. Mike Arendes nominated Tom to the board; Jim Merritt seconded.
Treasurer Position – Mike Arendes nominated Ken Schumann to be the Treasurer for two more years. Carol Stromatt seconded the motion. Tom Brown will help Ken so he can potentially step into the role in the future.
At 8:24pm, Mike Arendes motioned to adjourn the meeting; Matt Pounders seconded.
