Monthly Board Meeting, June 14, 2016

Elected Officials: Mike Bass
Call to Order: 7:04pm Mike Arendes called the meeting to order.
Law Enforcement Report – Deputy Jason Hopper gave a crime prevention report.
Elected Officials and Candidates – Mike Bass let us know that the Township Board is compiling lists of areas that flooded and trying to put an action plan in place. Mike Saucier mentioned that his neighborhood would like a warning when Lake Conroe plans to release water. Mike Bass commented that the emergency notice mechanism will be examined by the Township also. The flood and issues related to it will be discussed by Township board. ISVA plans to send out a note to residents asking them for input.
January 1st, 2016 the county started a new crime statistics reporting system. This will enable law enforcement to better understand and address the various issues.
Secretary’s Report: Bev Wallery – Minutes from May are on the website. Erika Pratt motioned to approve the minutes; Jim Merritt seconded. All approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Ken Schumann presented the budget. Jim Merritt motioned to approve; Shanna Davis seconded. All approved.
Woodlands Township Report: John Osborne. John provided the summary from The Township BOD meeting and a list of upcoming activities and dates. Good Neighbor Day at Fire Station #8 was on Saturday. The Good Neighbor Day at Station #1 in Grogan’s Mill was 6/25. Neighborhood Night Out is in August 2nd. John also reminded us to use Woodlands311.
Parks & Recreation Advisory Council: Michael Saucier. No meeting prior to this meeting.
Magazine Article: Kelly Sharer will submit an article for the ISVA.
RDRC: Richard Stromatt – No meeting last month.
Taste of the Village: Mike Arendes will begin contacting people to make arrangements for the Taste.
Fourth of July Parade: Richard Stromatt presented this years plan for the ISVA entry. Jim Merritt offered to contribute $500 toward the event. Richard motioned authorization to spend up to $1,500 that is budgeted toward the parade. Russ Heinen seconded the motion. All approved.
Village Challenge Awards – ISVA received $450 for our work toward the Green UP. ISVA was awarded $30 for the Waterwise Challenge.
Square Up Proposal – Alan Neely suggested we invest in the Square Up device to collect donations at the Taste of the Village. This will allow us to accept credit cards for donations or purchases. Mike Arendes made a motion for Alan Neely to purchase the device. Erika Pratt seconded. All approved.
Other Issues – The presentation of Lloyd Matthew’s Scholarship will be on July 26th.
Ken Schumann distributed Montgomery County Sheriff Citizen’s Academy Alumni Assoc. information, as well as Montgomery County phone numbers.
John Osbourne suggested we put the numbers in our phones, and also shared that we should paint our addresses on our curbs.
At 8:14pm, Mike Arendes motioned to adjourn the meeting; Erika Pratt seconded.
